BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 16. Kyrgyzstan saw 2.3 times increase in the volume of lamb and goat meat exports to the UAE from January through April 2023, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, during the period under review, the country exported a total of 69.7 tons of these types of meat to the UAE, while in the previous year, a total of 30.2 tons of the meat was exported over a four-month period.
At the same time, the value of the exports rose by 5 percent year-on-year in the specified months of 2023. While the UAE purchased lamb and goat meat from Kyrgyzstan at 616 soms ($7) per kilogram last year, this year the price stands at 646 soms ($7.3).
Apart from the UAE, Kyrgyzstan has also exported these types of meat to Kuwait (1.2 tons). However, compared to the corresponding period last year, the supply volume has decreased nearly fivefold.
Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan's meat production reached a total of 158,100 tons in the first quarter of 2023, which is 4 percent or 165,000 tons more than in the same period of 2022.
