Government deposits in Kyrgyzstan's commercial banks surge by 50%

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23. Government deposits in Kyrgyzstan's commercial banks reached a total volume of 35.5 billion soms ($406.6 million) as of April 30, Trend reports.

This figure increased by 52.7 percent compared to the end of December 2022, according to the country’s National Bank.

Additionally, the deposits of legal entities experienced the next significant growth, amounting to 146.6 billion soms ($1.6 billion), reflecting a 9 percent increase since the beginning of the year.

Non-resident deposits also saw a notable rise of 8.4 percent, totaling 53.8 billion soms ($616.2 million) as of April 30. Deposits from individuals showed a steady growth of 7.6 percent, reaching 139.4 billion soms ($1.5 billion) by the end of April.

Conversely, deposits from other financial and credit organizations declined by 5.9 percent, with a total volume estimated at 1.9 billion soms ($21.7 million).

The total volume of deposits in the commercial banks of Kyrgyzstan amounted to 377.2 billion soms ($4.3 billion) as of April, which is an 11.3 percent increase since the beginning of 2022.
