BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 11. The volume of deposits in Kyrgyzstan's commercial banks increased by 55 percent from January through June 2023, compared to the same period in the previous year, Trend reports.

According to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, the sum of deposits held in the country's commercial banks as of the end of June 2023 nearly reached 388 billion soms ($4.4 billion), with a weighted average interest rate of 3.23 percent.

The volume of individual deposits in Kyrgyzstan’s banks amounted to 145.4 billion soms ($1.651 billion) as of June 30;

The volume of deposits by legal entities in the country reached 141 billion soms ($1.601 billion);

The volume of non-resident deposits totaled 55 billion soms ($624.857 million);

The volume of government deposits in commercial banks amounted to 42.8 billion soms ($486.253);

The volume of deposits by other financial and credit organizations equaled 3.7 billion shillings ($42 million).

In comparison, during the second quarter of 2022, the deposit volume in Kyrgyzstan’s banks stood at around 250 billion soms ($2.8 billion), with a weighted average interest rate of approximately 3.85 percent.
