BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 17. Exports of live, fresh, chilled, and frozen fish from Kyrgyzstan grew by 42.06 percent year-on-year from January through June 2023, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistical Committee of the country, Kyrgyzstan exported 1,716 tons of fish over the course of six months. In the same period in 2022, Kyrgyzstan exported 1,208 tons of fish.
The majority of the exported fish, totaling 1,646 tons, went to Russia. Kazakhstan received 70.3 tons of fish.
During the period under review, Kyrgyzstan primarily exported frozen fish—1.566 tons, of which 1.508 tons were sent to Russia and 58 tons to Kazakhstan.
Overall, Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $6.7 billion from January through June 2023, an increase of 31 percent compared to the first half of 2022 ($5.1 billion).
Kyrgyzstan's exports totaled $1.306 billion, which is 34.6 percent more than the $970.5 million recorded from January through June 2022.
The country's imports reached $5.398 billion, rising 30.3 percent compared to the same months of the previous year ($4.142 billion).
