BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 24. Alibaba Group, the Chinese e-commerce company, is in talks with local stakeholders in Kyrgyzstan to boost the involvement of Kyrgyzstani SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) in exports through Alibaba.com, a source at the company told Trend.
"This potentially includes working with local government bodies to provide local SMEs with e-commerce training as well as global trade and logistics consultation, with a focus on industries such as food and beverage, agriculture, textiles, and apparel," the source said.
It was further noted that recent efforts have been made to enhance the visibility of suppliers and products from other Central Asian countries, particularly Kazakhstan, among global buyers. This has been achieved through the establishment of the Kazakhstan Country Pavilion on Alibaba.com.
"These are just some initial steps we have taken to develop the Central Asian market. We see great growth potential for B2B (business-to-business) global trading in Central Asia and will continue to help local SMEs build up their digital readiness, launch their online trade businesses, and find success," the source said.
Alibaba.com constantly upgrades its platform with new technologies, helping SMEs join global trade. It offers services like customer acquisition, marketing, transactions, logistics, and software solutions.
Launched in 1999 as the first business of the Alibaba Group, Alibaba.com has evolved into a leading platform for global B2B e-commerce. It connects more than 200,000 businesses engaged in international trade with over 47 million active buyers from more than 190 countries.
