BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 23. Kyrgyzstan imported 241.935 million cubic meters of natural gas from January through July 2023, Trend reports.
The State Statistical Committee of the country revealed that this import increased by 11.8 percent compared to the same period in 2022. The total value of these imports reached $36.290 million, which is also an 11.8 percent year-on-year increase.
During this period, Kyrgyzstan imported natural gas from Russia and Uzbekistan. From Russia, the country imported 216.574 million cubic meters at a cost of $32.486 million. Additionally, 25.360 million cubic meters were imported from Uzbekistan, with a total value of $3.804 million.
Kyrgyzstan produced a total of 18 million cubic meters of natural gas in both liquid and gas forms from January through July 2023. This figure rose by 12.5 percent compared to the volume recorded during the same period in 2022 (16 million cubic meters).
Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $8.153 billion from January through July 2023, which is an increase of 32.3 percent compared to the same months in 2022.
Exports amounted to $1.602 billion, increasing by 45.6 percent compared to the corresponding months of 2022. Imports rose by 29.4 percent year-on-year, totaling $6.551 billion.
