BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 3. Kazakhstan’s KAZ Minerals, a mining company operating in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, has extracted approximately 199,500 tons of copper from January through June 2023, which is a 10-percent increase year-on-year, Trend reports.
Of this, around 126,600 tons of copper were mined in at the Aktogay mine, and 50,200 tons at the Bozshakol mine in Kazakhstan, while 22,700 tons were extracted in the mines in the East Region of Kazakhstan and at Bozymchak in Kyrgyzstan.
During the reviewed period, copper production in the Eastern region mines and at Bozymchak decreased by 1,400 tons year-on-year.
In Kyrgyzstan, the company is developing the Bozymchak copper-gold deposit, which has confirmed reserves of approximately 140,000 tons of copper, nearly 23 tons of gold, and 144 tons of silver.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the total value of industrial production in Kyrgyzstan for the period from January through August 2023 amounted to approximately 289 billion soms ($3.2 billion), up by 0.3 percent year-on-year.
