BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 3. The Association of Oil Traders of Kyrgyzstan believes that a shortage of fuel and lubricants may occur in Kyrgyzstan in just 20 days, Trend reports.

The problem is related to the transit of gasoline through Kazakhstan. Starting from September 1, Kazakhstan Railways (Kazakhstan Temir Zholy - KTZ), the national railway company, stopped coordinating monthly transport plans and additional plans for the transit of fuel and lubricants without providing official notice. The company has not disclosed the reasons for this action.

"As of today, practically all the declared plans for October have been rejected by KTZ. The transit issue through the territory of Kazakhstan could lead to a shortage of fuels and lubricants," the association believes.

Currently, Kyrgyz oil traders, in collaboration with the Kyrgyz Railway, the national company, are working to resolve the emerging issue.

"This matter needs to be resolved at the intergovernmental level between the two countries," the association emphasized.

Over 90 percent of the gasoline, including both petrol and diesel fuel, imported by Kyrgyzstan, is supplied to the country from Russia via railway through the territory of Kazakhstan.
