BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 19. Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan increased by 10 percent year-on-year from January through August 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan reveals that it amounted to $399.339 million during the period, accounting for 4.2 percent of Kyrgyzstan's total trade turnover.
Among the member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Uzbekistan secured the third position in terms of trade volume with Kyrgyzstan. Russia ($1.760 billion) and Kazakhstan ($860 million) had higher trade turnover with Kyrgyzstan.
Exports from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan saw a 16.9 percent year-on-year increase from January through August 2023, totaling $161.857 million. Kyrgyzstan's imports from Uzbekistan reached $237.481 million, which is 6 percent higher than the same period in 2022.
Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and the countries of the CIS amounted to $3.168 billion from January through August 2023, which is 7.7 percent less than in the same period of 2022. Trade with CIS countries accounted for 33 percent of Kyrgyzstan's total trade turnover.
The country's exports to CIS members reached $981.917 million, which is 53.1 percent of Kyrgyzstan's total imports. The value of exports increased by 2.5 percent year-on-year.
Kyrgyzstan's imports from CIS countries amounted to $2.187 billion, which is a decrease of 11.6 percent year-on-year. It accounted for 28.9 percent of Kyrgyzstan's total imports.
