BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 10. The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) is set to invest $54.4 million in establishment of a halal park in Kyrgyzstan, Head of the Technical Regulation and Metrology Department of the Ministry of Economy of Kyrgyzstan, Bakyt Shabdanov, said, Trend reports.
The Ministry of Economy predicts that the halal park will generate around $34 million to the country's budget over a 20-year running term.
The halal park will be built in three stages, according to the plan. The initial construction of the facility is the subject of Phase 1A. A $36.2 million investment has been set aside for this round. Following that, Phase 1B receives an extra $1.3 million allocation. In the coming years, Phase 2 is estimated to cost $16.6 million.
A quarantine yard, a slaughterhouse with meat processing and packaging capabilities, a building for by-products processing, quality control laboratories, and worker infrastructure, including a daycare facility, will be included in the halal park.
According to Deputy Minister of Economy Nazarbek Malayev, the creation of a halal park will enable Kyrgyzstan to monitor the production process, enhance product quality, and subsequently, increase its export potential. Kyrgyzstan's meat could be exported to the UAE.
