BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 7. Kyrgyzstan imported 35,165 tons of petroleum coke and bitumen from January through October 2023, which is a 60-percent decrease compared to the same period in 2022 when it totaled 88,436 tons, Trend reports.
Data from the country's State Statistical Committee shows a significant increase in the total value of these imports, doubling year-on-year. The import value was $10.514 million from January through October 2022, but for the same period in 2023, it surged to $21.530 million.
The majority of petroleum coke and bitumen imports into Kyrgyzstan originated from Russia, accounting for 29,284 tons valued at $7.762 million, followed by Kazakhstan with 5,796 tons valued at $13.717 million. The volume of imports from Kazakhstan decreased by 92 percent year-on-year, whereas imports from Russia increased by two times compared to the same months of 2022.
Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover reached $12.297 billion from January through October 2023, increasing by 24.9 percent compared to $9.845 billion in the same period of 2022.
Exports from Kyrgyzstan totaled $2.443 billion during the 10 months, which is a 29.6-percent increase compared to $1.885 billion recorded from January through October 2022. Imports into Kyrgyzstan amounted to $9.854 billion during this period, reflecting a 23.8-percent increase compared to the same period in 2022 ($7.959 billion).
