BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 24. A total of 84,324 tons of milk were produced in Kyrgyzstan in January 2024, which is a 1.5-percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan reveals that the Chuy region led in milk production with 24,768 tons, followed by the Osh region with 15,810 tons, and Issyk-Kul with 15,778 tons in the reporting month.
The average milk yield per cow reached 103.1 kg in January 2024. Farms in the Chuy (174.7 kg), Talas (144.4 kg), and Issyk-Kul (121.0 kg) regions surpassed the country's average milk yields.
Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan produced 1.777 million tons of milk in 2023, a 2.5 percent increase compared to 2022. The average milk yield per cow was 2,022.4 kg. Farms in the Chuy (3,054.1 kg), Talas (2,276.5 kg), and Issyk-Kul (2,050.8 kg) regions exceeded the country's average milk yields last year.
The gross output of agriculture, forestry, and fishing in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 11.780 billion soms ($131.7 million) in January 2024, with the volume of production increasing by 1.4 percent.
