Kyrgyzstan's export to Kazakhstan slumps

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 15. Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover with Kazakhstan amounted to $76.872 million in January 2024, which is 24.4 percent less than a year ago ($101.685 million in January 2023), Trend reports.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the country's exports to Kazakhstan reached $17.596 million in the first month of 2024, which is 52.5 percent less than the $37.057 million in January 2023.

Imports from Kazakhstan totaled $59.275 million, marking an 8.3 percent decline compared to $64.628 million in January last year.

Trade with Kazakhstan accounted for 6.6 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total trade. Kazakhstan's share in Kyrgyzstan’s total exports amounted to 9.7 percent, and in imports, it stood at 6 percent.

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $1.168 billion in January 2024, which is a 36.8 percent increase compared to January 2023.

Exports amounted to $181.3 million, a 46.6 percent increase compared to January 2023. Imports increased by 35.1 percent compared to January 2023, reaching $987.5 million.

Additionally, the trade deficit widened to $806.2 million, reflecting the growing demand for imported goods compared to exports.
