BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, June 1. Kyrgyzstan aims to export around 1.27 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2025 as part of the CASA-1000 project, Trend reports.

According to the country's National Energy Program project, energy supply volumes under CASA-1000 are projected as follows: In 2026, the planned volume is 1.7 billion kilowatt-hours. In 2027, it's 1.6 billion kilowatt-hours. From 2028 to 2035, the expected amount is 1.75 billion kilowatt-hours annually.

According to the program, by 2035, electricity production in the country is expected to reach 39.4 billion kilowatt-hours. The ministry anticipates a generation volume of 14 billion kilowatt-hours in 2024.

To note, this national project has been submitted for consideration to the Kyrgyz Parliament.

CASA-1000 is an infrastructure initiative aimed at transmitting 1,300 megawatts of surplus electricity from Central Asian countries, particularly Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, to meet the electricity demands in South Asian countries, specifically Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The project involves upgrading the electrical grids in these participating nations through the construction of new substations and high-voltage power transmission lines. It was initially approved in March 2014.
