BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, June 12. Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan reached 195 billion soms ($2.242 billion) from January through May 2024, which is a 2.6 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.
According to the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, this growth was driven by increased production of refined petroleum products (up by 55.7 percent), wooden and paper products, and printing activities (up by 26.6 percent).
Additionally, there was an increase in the production of food products (including beverages) and tobacco products (up by 21.6 percent), textile manufacturing, clothing production (up by 15.9 percent), pharmaceuticals (up by 14.2 percent), and chemical products (up by 12.8 percent), as well as rubber, plastic products, and construction materials (up by 8.1 percent).
However, there was a decrease in the production volumes of basic metals (down by 6.8 percent) as well as the mining of minerals (down by 7.5 percent).
Meanwhile, industrial production amounted to 482.801 billion soms ($5.398 billion) in Kyrgyzstan last year, which is 9 percent higher than in 2022.
