BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 1. Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create an Uzbek-Kyrgyz Expert Council, Trend reports.

The memorandum was signed on July 30, 2024, between the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISRS) and the National Institute of Strategic Initiatives under the President of Kyrgyzstan.

The formation of the council is aimed at providing a structured and regular framework for expert dialogue between the two countries, following the high-level Uzbek-Kyrgyz summit held on July 18–19, 2024.

The council will focus on analyzing the current state of and identifying new growth opportunities in trade, economic, industrial, technological, and cultural cooperation.

Experts will also work on advancing the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway and the construction of the Kambarata-1 hydropower plant. These projects are expected to have a significant impact on the economic development of the region.

A roadmap has been agreed upon, outlining joint conferences, seminars, roundtables, and research on topics of mutual interest to be conducted by the end of 2024.
