About 20 Tajik citizens were deported from Iran last week. Some 12 of the deported people were the students of the religious madrasah of the Zohidon city of the Siistan province.

About 20 Tajik citizens were deported from Iran last week. Some 12 of the deported people were the students of the religious madrasah of the Zohidon city of the Siistan province.

"These citizens entered Iran illegally and stayed in the country without visas and other documents," spokesman for the Tajik Foreign Ministry, Davlat Nazri, said, NIAT Khovar news agency reported.

"They were detained by the Iranian law enforcement and security officials during the raids, after which they were deported to Tajikistan," the source said.

The parents of the deported Tajik citizens, in coordination with the Tajik Embassy in Iran took a direct part in their returning.

According to the official statistics, at present, about 400 Tajik students are studying different universities of Iran in accordance with the Iranian-Tajik intergovernmental agreement.
