Floods, mudslides kill 24 in Tajikistan
According to Tajik authorities the death toll from mudslides and floods that devastated the southern regions late last week has risen to 24. More than 20 are reported missing.
Officials say that about 2,000 buildings and more than 30 bridges have been destroyed. On May 8 at an informal summit of the CIS countries in Moscow Tajik president Emomalii Rahmon informed his counterparts on the situation in the republic. The leaders of the ICS countries promised to provide all necessary aid to Tajikistan, The Voice of Russia reported.
