Agenda of CIS Dushanbe summit announced

The CIS heads of state will discuss the further development of the Commonwealth and urgent international issues at the meeting in Dushanbe on Sept. 3, the Kremlin's press service reported on the eve of the meeting.

"Dushanbe will host the next meeting of Council of CIS Heads of State on Sept. 3, 2011. The summit will be presided by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. The CIS leaders will traditionally consider important issues of further development of the Commonwealth, exchange views on several urgent international problems," RIA Novosti reported referring to the Kremlin press service.

The Commonwealth of Independent States will mark its 20th anniversary in December 2011.

"The heads of state will also consider the draft of analytical report "Results of the CIS activities for 20 years and challenges for the future" during the upcoming summit. "The presidents are supposed to adopt a joint statement concerning this anniversary, as well as award the CIS citizens, who have made significant contributions to the development of the organization, with Commonwealth Diploma," said the press service of the Russian President.

In addition, in connection with the tragic date - the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the World War II, the heads of state are expected to sign an agreement to perpetuate the memory of courage and heroism of peoples of the CIS member states in this bloody war.

"It is an important document for all countries of the Commonwealth, which is aimed at continuing the ongoing work to preserve the memory of the heroism of our peoples," the press-service reported.

The presidents are also expected to adopt a number of documents regulating interstate cooperation within the CIS in various spheres, including improving air defense systems and migration policies. The heads of state are also supposed to consider information on the implementation of basic action plan on realization of the concept of further development of the Commonwealth, the press service reported.

The meeting is also expected to coordinate a number of staff and organizational issues, including the chairmanship of the CIS in 2012 and the next meeting of the Council.
