Tajikistan imported a record amount of wheat and flour last year, Asia-Plus reported on Wednesday.
According to the information provided by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Sharif Rahimzod, Tajikistan imported 747.100 tons of wheat and wheat flour in 2012, or 308.300 tons more than in 2011.
As the minister mentioned, the import increased as over half of the winter wheat crop in Tajikistan was lost last year due to severe cold. Deficiency was compensated by imported wheat and flour.
