Tajikistan’s Barki Tojik OSHC and Japan’s Nishizawa Ltd. signed a contract worth about $17.5 million on Jan. 26 in Dushanbe city to improve the city’s energy supply, TajikTA news agency reported.
The contract will be implemented within the grant project “Improvement of substations in Dushanbe city” funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), said Hideki Tanabe, JICA chief representative for Tajikistan.
It was noted that according to the terms of the contract, the Nishizawa company undertakes commitment to build a new “Radio station” substation in the Ismoili Somoni district of Dushanbe in the next two years.
In addition, the company will increase the capacity of the "Promyshlennaya" substation located in the Sino district of Dushanbe.
The main electric power equipment (transformers, switchgears, etc.) for these substations will be produced by the world famous Japanese Toshiba company.
