BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23. Chinese "China Road and Bridge Corporation" began reconstruction of a section of the Kalai Khumb-Vanj road on June 23, Trend reports with the reference to "Asia Plus" Information Agency.
Within the framework of reconstruction project, it is planned to build a two-lane road, two tunnels (5.2 km long), 15 bridges (634 m) and other facilities.
According to the agency, Chinese government is expected to provide a $230 million grant for this road reconstruction to Tajikistan.
Earlier, it was reported that President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon instructed to begin the reconstruction of this road in 2020.
