BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 13. The value of Tajikistan's agricultural production increased over the past year, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Agriculture of Tajikistan.
Agricultural production in Tajikistan amounted to 49.3 billion somoni ($4.8 billion) in 2022, which is an increase of 8 percent compared to 2021.
During the last year, Tajikistan's crop production of reached 33.9 billion somoni ($3.3 billion), and livestock products equaled 15.4 billion somoni ($1.5 billion).
In the volume of production of agricultural products, the share of crop production was 68.8 percent and livestock production was 31.2 percent.
"The increase in the production of agricultural products in 2022 contributed to the increase in the production of food products together with beverages by 32.0 percent," the Ministry said.
Tajikistan's economy is largely dependent on agriculture, which employs about half of the country's total population. Tajikistan is famous for cultivating cotton, potatoes, grapes, etc.
