BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17. The volume of cargo transportation in Tajikistan by all means of transport amounted to 23.3 million tons from January through March 2023, which is an increase of 10.8 percent year-on-year, Trend reports via the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan.
The ministry noted that more than 93.1 percent of cargo transportation fell to road transport.
According to the department, a total of 577,300 vehicles were registered in Tajikistan from January through March 2023, of them 50,248 cargo vehicles and 15,587 passenger vehicles, 507,661 private vehicles, 1,780 special vehicles, and 2,036 motorcycles.
Meanwhile, according to the Statistical Agency of Tajikistan, the volume of cargo transportation in the country exceeded 8.1 million tons in January 2023, which is a 6.6-percent increase compared to the corresponding period of 2022.
Of the total amount of cargo transported in Tajikistan in January 2023, 7.6 million tons were transported via road transport. The figure increased by 5.3 percent year-on-year.
At the same time, an amount of 549,100 tons of cargo was transported via Tajik rail transport in the first month of 2023, which is 28.1 percent more than in the same period of 2022.
