DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 15. Tajikistan has exceeded its customs revenue collection plan from January through June 2023 by 12.1 percent, Trend reports.
Customs revenues for the reporting period in Tajikistan amounted to over 4.1 billion somoni ($372.3 million), whereas the plan was set at 3 billion 705.3 million somoni ($336.5 million). This represents an increase of 12.1 percent, as the head of the Customs Service of Tajikistan, Khurshed Karimzoda, said.
The key causes of the plan's success were stated by Karimzoda. He credited the execution of several additional steps targeted at improving the customs administration system with this result.
Additionally, he added, "this includes the precise assessment of the customs value of imported goods, ensuring quality customs clearance, conducting explanation work with entities engaged in foreign economic activities, stepping up efforts to prevent illegal importation of goods, post-clearance control, and effective cooperation with supervisory and law enforcement agencies.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the total volume of Tajikistan's state budget in 2022 amounted to approximately 36.4 billion somoni (over $3.5 billion), which is 3.8 percent more than the revised plan.
The growth of tax revenues for the budget in the past year reached 6.7 percent. However, the share of tax revenues in the budget decreased to 60 percent in 2022 from 66.7 percent in the previous year.
