DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 15. According to Tax Committee Chairman Nusratullo Davlatzoda, taxes of more than 60 million somoni ($54.4 million) were paid to Tajikistan's budget using POS terminals and the "Amonat Mobile" mobile wallet using cashless means from January through June 2023, Trend reports.
He said that a total of roughly 214,000 people and taxpayers used this payment method.
According to a study from the country's Ministry of Finance, tax collections made up 61 percent of Tajikistan's national budget for the first three months of the current year. Taxes, by contrast, made up 69.8% of the budget's revenue during the same time period in 2022.
Over 9.5 billion somoni (little more than $870 million) was spent on the state budget of Tajikistan in the first three months of this year, which represents an increase of 5.7 percent from the amended budget.
Tajikistan is working on advancing its internal non-cash payment system. As an example, from August 1, following a directive from President Emomali Rahmon, a complete shift to non-cash payments for state services, fees, taxes, utilities, medical services, and various types of invoices in support of government agencies has been put into effect.
