DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 3. The World Food Programme (WFP) provided assistance to 100,927 people in Tajikistan in August 2023, Trend reports.
Of these, 51 percent were men and 49 percent were women. A total of 1,552 tons of food ingredients and additives were distributed.

Additionally, WFP, along with the Consulate of Russia in Khujand, provided 1,350 tons of fortified wheat flour, 60 tons of fortified sunflower oil, and 135 tons of yellow split peas to support the implementation of the School Feeding Programme in the Sughd region.
WFP has been actively involved in Tajikistan since 1993 and currently operates under the Country Strategic Plan (2023-2026), initiated in January 2023.
The strategic plan outlines specific goals for the coming years. By 2026, the aim is to strengthen the livelihoods, resilience, and adaptive capacities of food-insecure and vulnerable populations in both urban and rural areas through the improvement of climate-resilient and nutrition-sensitive agri-food value chains.
