DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 13. A total of 982,000 tons of cement were produced in Tajikistan's Sughd region from January through September 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the official statistics of the Regional Statistical Office indicates that cement production decreased by 2.3 percent year-on-year.
Additionally, cement exports abroad also decreased in the first nine months of 2023 by 28.9 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
The foreign trade turnover of the region amounted to $2.043 billion during the reviewed period. This includes imports totaling $1.473 billion and exports of $570 million.
Over 200 small and medium-sized enterprises commenced operations in the cities and districts of the Sughd region during the period from January through August 2023.
As of the beginning of September 2023, the region was home to 1,023 operating enterprises, and the number of main industrial products reached 248 different types.
The value of industrial production in the Sughd region of Tajikistan reached 12.1 billion somoni ($1.1 billion) from January through June 2023, contributing to 58.5 percent of the total industrial output in the country.
