DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, January 8. The honey production in Tajikistan reached 4,552 tons from January through November 2023, which is a 3-percent increase compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.

Data from the Statistical Agency under the President of Tajikistan reveals that honey production in the Sughd region was 1,556 tons during the 11 months of 2023, 1,144 tons were produced in the Khatlon region, 58 tons in the Gorno-Badakhshan region, and 1,794 tons in the districts under central government jurisdiction.

Since the establishment of Tajikistan's independence in 1991, a law "On Beekeeping" was adopted, serving as the foundation for several corresponding government resolutions that regulate the industry's activities and contribute to timely solutions for existing issues.

Furthermore, four state development programs were implemented, propelling beekeeping advancement across all regions of the country.

As a result of implementing these beekeeping development programs, by 2022, the number of bee colonies in Tajikistan reached 264,000, and honey production amounted to 4,600 tons. Compared to 1991, the number of bee colonies increased by 4.3 times in 2022, honey production surged by 7.7 times, and the productivity of colonies grew by 1.8 times.
