DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, January 19. A recent report from the World Food Programme (WFP) indicates that the average price for a liter of petrol in Tajikistan was recorded at 10.6 somoni ($0.97) as of January 8, 2024, Trend reports.
The figure has not changed compared to the previous WFP market outlook of January 2, 2024. WFP notes a notable increase of 28 percent in petrol prices compared to the same period in 2023.
In the capital city of Dushanbe, the price reached 9.9 somoni ($0.91), decreasing by 1 percent compared to the prices on January 2.
The highest prices were observed in the Ishkoshim district at 12.7 somoni ($1.16), which is 2 percent less than on January 2.
Conversely, the prices for petrol in Kushoniyon and Qubodiyon districts were the lowest, standing at 9.8 somoni ($0.90).
WFP Tajikistan, in partnership with the Neksigol Mushovir advisory organization, has been monitoring commodity prices in markets across the country. Price data is collected through a network of field enumerators, with multiple traders interviewed for each commodity, and average prices recorded.
