DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, February 20. The share of Visa payment cards in Tajikistan stood at 9.6 percent of the total number of payment cards in circulation in the country as of December 31, 2023, Trend reports.
At the reporting date, data from the National Bank of Tajikistan reveals that the largest share in Tajikistan was held by Korti Milli cards of the national payment system, accounting for 58.1 percent of the total.
Following closely are ExpressPay Korti Milli with 14.6 percent, Union Pay Korti Milli with 11.9 percent, Mastercard with 1.2 percent, Union Pay with 0.4 percent, and local bank cards with 4 percent.
As of December 31, 2023, the total number of bank payment cards in circulation in Tajikistan reached 6.7 million, marking a 32.6 percent increase compared to the same date in 2022, when the number stood at 5.1 million.
At the end of 2023, Tajikistan had 2,240 ATMs, 3,492 electronic cash withdrawal points, and 6,939 POS terminals in operation.
Moreover, as of December 31, 2023, Tajikistan had 63 credit financial organizations in operation, including 14 traditional banks, 1 Islamic bank, 1 non-bank credit organization, 19 microcredit deposit organizations, 3 microcredit organizations, and 25 microcredit funds.
