DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, March 7. The World Food Programme (WFP) has released a report indicating that the average price for a liter of petrol in Tajikistan stood at 10.4 somoni ($0.95) as of February 26, 2024, Trend reports.
This figure marks a slight decrease of 1 percent from the 10.5 somoni ($0.96) recorded in the previous WFP market report on February 19, 2024. However, compared to the same period in 2023, petrol prices have surged by 27 percent, as per the WFP.
In the capital city of Dushanbe, petrol prices remained steady at 9.9 somoni ($0.9), unchanged from the prices reported on February 19.
Divergent pricing trends were observed across different regions, with the highest prices documented in Ishkoshim district at 12.8 somoni ($1.17), while the lowest prices for gasoline were found in Bokhtar, Kulob, and Panjakent as of February 26, standing at 9.8 somoni ($0.9).
The WFP Tajikistan, in partnership with the advisory organization Neksigol Mushovir, has been monitoring commodity prices in markets nationwide. Data collection involves a network of field enumerators who conduct interviews with multiple traders for each commodity, thereby providing accurate records of average prices.
