Prices for LPG in Tajikistan uptick, WFP says

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, March 7. The World Food Programme (WFP) has published a report revealing that the average cost of one liter of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) in Tajikistan was 7 somoni ($0.64) as of February 26, 2024, Trend reports.

This figure reflects a 1.4 percent increase from the previous WFP market report of February 19, 2024, where the price was 6.9 somoni ($0.63). Nonetheless, when compared to the same period in 2023, LPG prices have surged by a notable 63 percent, as reported by the WFP.

In Tajikistan's capital, Dushanbe, the price of LPG stood at 6.6 somoni ($0.63), indicating a 3 percent rise from the prices reported on February 19.

Regional variations were apparent, with Ishkoshim district reporting the highest prices at 9.5 somoni ($0.87), while Hisor city documented the lowest prices for LPG, standing at 6.4 somoni ($0.59) as of February 26.

WFP Tajikistan, in collaboration with the Neksigol Mushovir advisory organization, has been monitoring commodity prices in markets across the country. Data is collected through a network of field enumerators who interview multiple traders for each commodity, recording average prices.
