Tajikistan reports rise in payment transactions

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 15. Tajikistan recorded over 300.6 million payment transactions through various methods, including interbank transactions, direct correspondent relationships, and correspondent accounts opened at the National Bank of Tajikistan from January through June 2024, Trend reports.

According to the National Bank of Tajikistan, the total amount of payments reached 1.141 trillion somoni ($107 billion). The number of transactions increased by 86.6 percent compared to the same period last year, while the total payment volume grew by 47.5 percent.

Additionally, during January-June 2024, credit financial institutions opened 12.6 million bank accounts for clients, including 130,000 accounts for legal entities and 12.5 million accounts for individuals.

The number of client bank accounts in credit financial institutions rose by 2.8 million, or 22.7 percent, compared to the same period last year.
