Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov received French Ambassador to Turkmenistan Pierre Lebovich the day before, the "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper reported on Friday.
"France is very interested in boosting constructive cooperation with Turkmenistan, powerful impetus to which was given during President Berdimuhammadov's official visit to France in February 2010," Lebovich said.
In turn, Berdimuhammadov said Turkmenistan attaches great importance to strengthening the traditionally friendly relations with France. He said this corresponds to the strategic vector of the country's foreign policy, focused on establishing a fruitful partnership with leading European states, both in bilateral format and within the dialogue with the European Union.
During the meeting the sides exchanged views on the state affairs and prospects for cooperation. As Lebovich said "today the French business circles are seeking to expand their presence on the promising Turkmen market".
