Turkmen President begins state visit to Ukraine

The state visit of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Ukraine begins today, the Turkmen government said on Tuesday.

Following the visit the sides are expected to sign a major package of bilateral documents, which 'will contribute to further all-round development of constructive cooperation, meeting mutual interests and reaching now a new level'.

Both countries have mutual focus on the full cooperation, the government said.

The Turkmen state news service notes that the priority issues of bilateral cooperation and possibilities for further diversification will be discussed during the summit talks, designed to become a "new effective step towards the progressive development of constructive international dialogue".

The previous summit took place in Ashgabat in September, 2011 during the official visit of President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovich.
"Ukrainian companies, including those which have already established themselves, as well as potential partners of our country, show great interest in the dynamically developing Turkmen market," the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper said on Tuesday.

As many as 29 enterprises with the participation of Ukrainian capital have been registered in Turkmenistan, 63 projects have been implemented and are being carried out totaling nearly $2 billion and more than half a billion euros.
