President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov received the head of the Center of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Ashgabat, Sergei Belyaev, who ended his mission in the country, the Turkmen government said on Friday.
According to the report, representative of the major international organization stressed that the OSCE highly appreciates and supports the peace-making policy of Turkmenistan and international initiatives that meet goals of general welfare.
Belyaev also mentioned "the aspiration of the international organization he represents for steady deepening and expanding of the fruitful cooperation with Turkmenistan".
During the meeting the sides exchanged views on prospects for further enhancing of a constructive dialogue. The energy sector, socio-economic and humanitarian spheres were called among the priority spheres.
The readiness of the parties to further consolidate efforts in such an urgent direction, as the fight against international terrorism and transnational crime was also confirmed.
New areas of cooperation are opening up, and one of them is providing assistance to the country's ongoing reforms in jurisprudence, in which today a number of important new laws are being developed together with the OSCE staff.
Berdimuhammadov "praised the diplomat's personal contribution to the comprehensive development of the traditional cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE"
"Independent neutral Turkmenistan has been and remains the principal supporter of the non-confrontational model of the world, steadily pursuing a policy of peacefulness and wide international cooperation in the interest of global security, stability and sustainable development," Berdimuhammadov said.
