During the international exhibition on Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2012 and the 17th international scientific conference 'The main trends of the oil and gas industry and international cooperation', a meeting of Turkmen Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov with the Energy Adviser at the Foreign Ministry of Great Britain Angus Miller took place, the report of Turkmen Foreign Ministry, issued by the republic's embassy in Azerbaijan, stated.
During the meeting, the sides noted the high level of Turkmen-British cooperation standing for the further intensification of relations both on a bilateral basis and in the framework of authoritative international structures.
It was noted that the policy of 'open doors' pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, and a favourable investment climate formed in the country, attracts businesses from around the world, including Great Britain.
In this context, Miller emphasised the intention of leading British companies to expand their presence in the promising Turkmen market citing the trade, economic and energy sectors as the priority areas of Turkmen-British relations
The important role of the Turkmen-British Trade and Industry Council in the implementation of new forms of long term and mutually beneficial cooperation was noted.
