GDP growth rates exceeded 10 percent in Turkmenistan in January-March 2014, the Turkmen government said on April 7.
" GDP growth rates exceeded 10 percent in early 2014," according to the statement. "The volume of investments aimed at the development of various sectors of the national economy increased by 7.2 percent, while turnover was 9.6 percent compared to the same period of last year."
The share of industry in Turkmenistan's GDP increased by 8.9 percent compared to the same period of last year. The significant growth was achieved in the construction industry at the level of 15.1 percent. The trade, transport, communications and services are being rapidly developed.
Turkmenistan holds one of the key positions in the region on natural gas supplies. Russia, China and Iran are importers.
Turkmenistan's GDP growth rate in general confirms the expectations of the international financial institutions. In its projections, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) stressed that the growth of the Turkmen economy will reach 10.7 percent this year. GDP growth rates amounted to 10.2 percent in Turkmenistan in 2013, according to the official statistics.
