Turkish company constructs seaport in Turkmenistan

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Chairman of the Board of Governors of Turkey's Chalyk Holding Ahmet Chalyk.

"In particular, information was voiced about the construction of an international seaport in Turkmenbashi city," the Turkmen government reported.

Gap Inşaat, which is part of Çalyk Holding, following an international tender was announced the general contractor of the project worth about $2 billion. The ceremony of laying of the facility foundation was held in August 2013 at a high level with the participation of the Turkmen President and the Turkish Prime Minister.

The project in Turkmenbashi envisages the construction of the complex of constructions, including terminals, ship-building and ship-repair factories and coastal infrastructure.
The container terminal is expected to operate four berths overload of "ship-to-shore" (FTF) type with the capacity of 25 TEU per hour will operate in the container terminal.

A main distribution center (CFS-Container Freight Station) that functions include grouping of goods designed with the throughput of 50 TEU per day will be included in the terminal.

The container terminal will be equipped with a satellite monitoring system bringing out all current information on the operator's monitor, designed in accordance with CTQI standard (Container Terminal Quality Indicator - an indicator of quality container terminals).

Turkmenistan shares borders with Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Iran on the Caspian Sea. Regional transport projects have been intensified in recent years.
