Preparation for Slovenian President Borut Pahor's official visit to Turkmenistan was discussed at the Turkmen Cabinet of Ministers meeting, according to a message from Turkmen government.

"The upcoming Turkmen-Slovenian top level talks, which are planned to be concluded with signing of several bilateral documents, will facilitate to bringing the intergovernmental relations to a qualitatively new level that meets modern realities and mutual cooperation potential in various areas," Turkmen government said.

Addressing the meeting, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underscored the need to enhance the mutually beneficial partnership.

He said the European vector is a priority for Turkmenistan's foreign policy, including in the context of traditional dialogue with the European Union.

The two countries' diplomatic relations were established in 1993.

Earlier this year, Slovenia and Turkmenistan agreed to establish an intergovernmental commission.
