Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Jan. 16
By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:
Deryaguly Bashimov has been appointed as Turkmenistan’s acting minister of railway transport, according to a decree of the Turkmen president.
It was previously reported that the former Turkmen Minister of Railway Transport Bayram Annameredov has been appointed as the country’s deputy prime minister, responsible for transportation and communication.
Regional transportation projects have intensified in recent years in Turkmenistan. In December 2014, a ceremony for launching a new railway route Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran was held. The North-South transportation corridor will link the Central Asian countries with the Persian Gulf and will open the way to Europe for them.
Ashgabat is also involved in the implementation of another railway project on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan route. China, Kyrgyzstan and Iran may also join the project.
