Turkmenistan’s Turkmengaz State Concern is preparing to build a compressor station at the country’s section of the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) gas pipeline, the Turkmen government said in a message.

“The site for the facility has been selected, the experts are designing the infrastructure - gas pipeline, power grids and other facilities,” said the message.

It was earlier reported that the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) allocated a loan worth $700 million to Turkmenistan to finance the construction of the country’s section of the gas pipeline.

Construction of the Turkmen section of TAPI was launched on Dec. 13, 2015.

The annual capacity of the gas pipeline will reach 33 billion cubic meters.

The total length of the TAPI pipeline will be 1,814 kilometers. A 214-kilometer section of the pipeline will run through Turkmenistan, a 774-kilometer section will run through Afghanistan and an 826-kilometer section will run through Pakistan.
