Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Apr. 18
By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on a state visit in Astana, believes cooperation in transportation plays a key role in the successful economic development of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, the Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary state news service reported Apr. 18.
Addressing the expanded format talks in Astana, the Turkmen head of state noted that creation of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway is one of the results of this cooperation.
“This railway will bring the economic and trade cooperation between Central Asian countries and neighboring regions to a qualitatively new level, and give a strong momentum to interregional relations in the long term,” according to him.
Berdimuhamedov said favorable geographical positions of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan dictate the necessity of further expanding the cooperation in transport projects.
He added that the two countries should also participate in the creation of new transport and transit corridors of regional and continental importance.
