Turkmenistan plans to bring the total volume of electricity produced in the country to 33 billion kilowatt hours by 2024, according to the country’s Energy Ministry.

This is 27.2 percent more than it is expected to produce in 2018.

The country produced 18,360,611,000 kilowatt hours of electricity in January-September 2017.

More than 2.8 billion kilowatt hours of electricity were supplied to foreign consumers, and the growth rate of exports amounted to 103.2 percent during the period.

Turkmenistan exports electricity to Iran, Afghanistan and Turkey. The prospects are studied to supply it to the countries of the Caucasus, as well as Central and South Asia.
