Ashgabat and Seoul discuss co-op prospects in seaport management system

A meeting dedicated to the cooperation between Turkmenistan and South Korea in the development of transport, logistics and seaport management systems was held in Ashgabat, Trend reports referring to Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

A meeting dedicated to the cooperation between Turkmenistan and South Korea in the development of transport, logistics and seaport management systems was held in Ashgabat, Trend reports referring to Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The representatives of the Turkmen Ministry of Industry and Communications, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, the Korea Maritime Institute and diplomats of the embassy of the Republic of Korea in Turkmenistan attended the event.

The main purpose of the meeting was to increase cooperation in these spheres.

Ashgabat and Seoul pay special attention to the transport sector in the context of the development of relevant infrastructure along the East-West and North-South lines with an access to the European and Middle Eastern markets. Moreover, Seoul hopes for partnership with Turkmenistan in such spheres as the development of gas fields, the creation of petrochemical and gas infrastructures and the modernization of industry.

According to the Turkmen side, the total trade turnover between Turkmenistan and South Korea has recently increased from $200 million to nearly $2 billion.
