Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz region completing preparations for wheat harvesting

Preparations for a wheat harvesting are being completed in Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz region, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan Today newspaper.

Early winter crops are sown on an area of 145,000 hectares in Dashoguz region, and the preference is given to high-yielding varieties that are most adapted to local soil and climate conditions.

The growth and development of the crop was facilitated by mineral fertilizers, moistening of fields, as well as timely implementation of vegetation irrigation.

Grain harvesting equipment and vehicles are ready for the upcoming agricultural campaign in all regions. Laboratories are ready for work and are equipped with modern and high-precision control and measuring devices, which will be used to determine the quality of grain. Sheds and warehouses, as well as areas for drying grain, have been also prepared.

Reportedly, agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable and fruits.

The development of agriculture is carried out on a scientific basis. Various types of agricultural crops are grown taking into account the agroecological characteristics of the country's regions.

Special attention is paid to increasing the volume of products in Turkmenistan. As a result, in recent years, the country has increased the production of vegetables and fruit and berries and enlarged the area of perennial plants, vineyards and greenhouses.
