Turkmenistan will prepare a program in order to overcome the current situation and ensure the achievement of pre-crisis macroeconomic indicators from 2020 through 2021, Trend reports with reference to Business Turkmenistan information portal.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov ordered to develop the program during a working session of the Cabinet of Ministers. The head of state noted that the country's economic indicators are declining due to the situation with coronavirus in the world.
The document should provide for investments in various sectors of the economy and support export operations. Acceleration of the process of privatization of enterprises and objects of state property, their transformation into joint-stock companies were identified as the main directions of the strategy.
Berdimuhamedov instructed to analyze the reasons for the delay in payment of wages and take measures to quickly solve the problem and stressed the need to stimulate business activity. He noted the necessity to take further steps to ensure state support of the private sector of the economy, said the report.
The head of the state also ordered to provide financial and logistical support for the development of small and medium-sized businesses, in particular, enterprises that specialize in tourism activities. The importance of raising efficiency of private agricultural firms engaged in the growing of agricultural products and construction of industrial cold storage facilities for fruit and vegetable was emphasized.
