Farmers of Ak-Bugday, Serakhs, and Geoktepa districts of the Akhal region, Yoloten and Takhta-Bazar districts of the Mary region, as well as Halach and Koytendag districts of the Lebap region of Turkmenistan announced completion of wheat harvesting on June 24, 2020, Trend reports with reference to the newspaper "Zolotoy Vek" (Golden age).
More than 69,000 tons of wheat were collected in Ak-Bugdai district, more than 41,000 tons were received in Serakhs district, and over than 21,500 tons of wheat - in Geoktepinsky district.
In the Mary region, over 25,200 tons of wheat were collected in the Yoloten district, while more than 17,300 tons were received in Takhta-Bazar district.
The Halach district of the Lebap region collected over 53,500 tons, and the Koitendag district of the same region - more than 17,600 tons of wheat.
During the sowing, the necessary care was taken; mineral and organic fertilizers were used, and all agrotechnical operations were carried out taking into account the recommendations of scientists-agronomists.
Just as last year, Turkmenistan is allocating state land for wheat production to enterprises.Furthermore, the Turkmen state provides seeds, mineral fertilizers and means for combating agricultural pests on preferential terms.
Agriculture is one of the most important sectors of Turkmenistan's economy. The main types of agricultural crops are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable and fruit.
