Turkmenistan is one of the main destinations for rail export of goods by Iran, General Director of the Iranian Khorasan Railways Mostafa Nasiri said, Trend reports on Sept.29 citing IRNA.
According to Nasiri, Iran's exports through Sarakhs land border to Central Asian countries in the spring and summer months of 2021 tripled compared to the same period of last year.
"Cement was the topmost good exported [by Iran] through Sarakhs border to Central Asia with 36 percent share of the total exports, and Turkmenistan with 41 percent was one of the main destinations for the Iranian goods exported by rail," he noted.
The Tejen-Sarakhs-Mashhad railway line, which was commissioned in May 1996, is becoming an important link in the transportation of goods to Turkmenistan for the Iranian transport industry.
